Nou kan mens ook ‘spek skiet’ by Stellenbosch Hills!

Stellenbosch Hills het in 2005 die monde laat water toe dit begin het om wyn met Suid-Afrika se geliefde peuselgenot, biltong en droëwors, te pasmaak. Nou neem dié bekende wynmakery die genot na ’n heel nuwe, onweerstaanbare geurvlak met ’n ander gunsteling, spek.

 

Die nuwe ervaring is egter net vir Desember en Januarie beskikbaar, so moenie voete sleep en dit heeltemal misloop nie. Slegs vir hierdie beperkte tydperk gaan Stellenbosch Hills sy gereelde “biltong-en-wynproe-extravaganza” opkikker om ook varkspek in te sluit. Dit beteken dat ’n enkele kaartjie van R65 per persoon nie alleen die tradisionele ses ongelooflike porsies bied nie, maar ook ’n lipleklekker sewende een!

 

“Wynmaak in Suid-Afrika dateer terug na 1659 en die produksie van gedroogde vleisprodukte omtrent net so ver,” sê die keldermeester, PG Slabbert. “Dit was ’n natuurlike local-is-lekker-keuse om hierdie twee bymekaar te bring vir ’n unieke proe-ervaring wat ons Kaapse erfenis vier.”

 

Die jongste toevoeging tot die kos-en-wyn-ervaring is “spek-biltong” wat met braaivleisspeserye gegeur is en saam met die Stellenbosch Hills Chenin Blanc die sintuie streel. Die wyn is volrond met geure van tropiese vrugte en ’n vars, vrugtige smaak wat herinner aan pynappel, appelkoos, spanspek en grenadella. Hierdie is die perfekte kombinasie van rokerige speserye en vars, vrugte.

Springbok-biltong & Stellenbosch Hills 1707 Reserve White: ’n perfekte balans tussen laer vet, droë wildsgeure en die wyn se smaakvolle sitrus- en gebotterde roosterbrood-geure;

Nat beesbiltong & Stellenbosch Hills Polkadraai Pinotage/Merlot: volronde kompleksiteit wat met die soeter geure van hierdie uiters gewilde rooiwynversnit gepas is;

Volstruis-droëwors & Stellenbosch Hills Merlot: gematigde wildsvleis wat die pruimerige, ryp vrugtegeure van ’n volronde metgesel komplementeer;

Gerookte beesbiltong & Stellenbosch Hills Shiraz: ’n unieke, liggies gegeurde eikehout-gerookte en gekuurde biltong wat moeiteloos hande vat met die gerookte geure van ’n wyn wat skeutjies donker sjokolade verklap;

Koedoe-droëwors & Stellenbosch Hills Cabernet Sauvignon: subtiele, maar ryk wildsvleisgeure is die perfekte pasmaats vir sysagte tanniene en skeutjies ryp, swart vrugte; en

Tradisionele bees-droëwors & Stellenbosch Hills 1707 Reserve Red: eksotiese geure van geroosterde koljander beklemtoon die wyn se skoon speserye en vol tanniene.

Give your mouth a ‘bacon high-five’ at Stellenbosch Hills

 

Stellenbosch Hills set tongues a-wagging in 2005 when it started pairing wines with that quintessential South African snacks, biltong and droëwors. Now, it takes that taste sensation to a whole new and irresistible flavour level with another favourite, bacon.

 

The new experience will only be available for December and January, so don’t drag your feet. For this limited time only, Stellenbosch Hills has expanded its regular “biltong & wine extravaganza” to incorporate bacon too. That means a single ticket of only R65 per person gets you not only the traditional six awesome portions, but a magnificent seventh too!

 

“Winemaking in South Africa dates back to 1659, and the making of dried meat products just as far,” says cellar master PG Slabbert. “It seemed a logical local-is-lekker match to bring these two together for a unique tasting experience that celebrates our Cape heritage.”

 

The new addition to the food and wine spread offers spiced and barbecued “bacon biltong” paired with Stellenbosch Hills Chenin Blanc, a succulent wine resplendent with aromas of tropical fruit and a fresh, fruity palate reminiscent of pineapple, apricot, melon and granadilla. It is the perfect combo of smoky spice and fresh, fruity decadence.

Springbok biltong & Stellenbosch Hills 1707 Reserve White: a perfect balance between lean, dry gaminess and the wine’s sumptuous citrus and buttered toast flavours;

Moist beef biltong & Stellenbosch Hills Polkadraai Pinotage/Merlot: succulent complexity matched with sweeter notes of the premier red blend;

Ostrich droëwors & Stellenbosch Hills Merlot: milder game meat perfectly complemented by the plummy, ripe fruit flavours of a well-rounded companion;

Smoked beef biltong & Stellenbosch Hills Shiraz: a unique oak-smoked and cured biltong, gently spiced connect seamlessly with smoky flavours of a wine that exhibits a hint of dark chocolate;

Kudu droëwors & Stellenbosch Hills Cabernet Sauvignon: subtle yet rich game flavours perfect match for silky tannin and notes of ripe black fruit; and

Traditional beef droëwors & Stellenbosch Hills 1707 Reserve Red: Exotic zest of roasted coriander offsets the wine’s clean spice and ripe tannin.
