It’s always wine o’clock in the winelands, no matter the weather. When it’s warm and sunny, it’s time for a garden party with superb wine and equally superb food, and few garden parties are better than the annual Franschhoek Summer Wines.
Next year lovers of the good life are invited to dress up in their elegant (and stylish) white attire and head out to Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards in the Franschhoek Valley for the 2020 version of this highlight on the winelands’ social calendar. The date is Saturday, 1 February, and the time is from 12pm to 5pm.
The winemakers will be showcasing their choices for summer, which include white, rosé, Méthode Cap Classique and lighter styled red wines. These have been carefully selected to match the hot summer days.
Complement whatever’s in your glass with seasonal-inspired food freshly prepared by Chef Pieter de Jager and his team. Relax on the sprawling lawn or in the comfort of the enclosed patio area of the venue. Live music will add the final touches to what promises to be the perfect day out in the Franschhoek Valley.
Tickets cost R295 per person. Pre-booking via www.webtickets.co.za is essential as tickets are limited. The cost includes entry, a complimentary tasting glass, tastings of the wines on show, as well as discount voucher to be used for the purchase of any show wines on the day. Tastings close at 3pm, but wine sales will continue until 5pm.
